Jute Wreath Holder: Tutorial

Remember this wreath we made last week???

And y'all said you wanted the scoop on the braided jute wreath holder???

Well, I've comprised a TON of photos for you.  Enjoy!

Braided Jute Wreath Holder

You'll Need:

:: Jute Twine
:: Magnetic Door Hanger {cheapest place I've found is Hobby Lobby
using a %40 coupon}
:: Scissors
:: Measuring tape {not pictured}

Start unrolling your twine to approximately 48 inches long, looping back and forth until you have a gathering of approximately 19 strands...

You want 2 of these "clumps" of twine so go ahead and do the same exact thing again - 48 inches long, 19ish strands of twine.

Fold both clumps of twine in half...

{only one of my clumps pictured}

Tie the 2 clumps of twine together at the midway point you folded them -
so you'll have 4 sets at equal lengths {now 23 inches each since you've halved them}...

Snip the end {on the side untied} with scissors...

Braid each set of twine into a simple braid {like you would hair}, until you have 4 long braids...

Looking like this...

See how it's tied up at the top and loosey goosey at the bottom?

Now you need to braid those four braids together.  I drew arrows in the steps I went, but if you can't figure it out by my photos, I suggest just "feeling" it.  You'll get it!

Just keep going with the most logical next piece...

And when your done with the braiding it'll look like this...

 You will probably have scraggly ends and maybe if you're lucky like me, one end will be longer than the others...

  Use that longer end to wrap around the end of the braid...

And tie...

Take those scraggly pieces and loop half through the wire on your wreath...

And tie...

Hang over your door!

On the inside of your door hang your magnetic wreath hook upside down.

Smoosh your jute braid into it...

 Trim off any stray twine ends if you wish...

And you're done!

Are you all gearing up for Thanksgiving yet???
